While today it is common for corporations to give generously to community, it is telling that the Medtronic Mission statement, written in 1960, would include an important guideline specifically dedicated to being a responsible neighbor.
Of course, being a good citizen also includes philanthropy. More than half a century since the Medtronic Mission was written, total giving at Medtronic has surpassed $668 million and given help and hope to millions of people around the globe.
The Medtronic Foundation was created in 1978 and is charged as the primary channel for Medtronic's strategic giving, with the majority of grant programs thoughtfully aligning with the company's commitment to improve access to quality healthcare.
