About Boston Police Athletic League
The Boston Police Athletic League is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the positive development of youth in the City of Boston. An official member of the National Association of Police Athletic Leagues, Boston PAL was incorporated in 1985 as the first police athletic league in Massachusetts and initially conceived as a community crime prevention effort. Recognizing that the prevention of juvenile crime and victimization alone is not sufficient to ensure that youth are fully prepared to be contributing and responsible members of the community, PAL offers young people the opportunity to interact with Boston police officers in a safe setting and engages students with innovative programming that combines academics, sports and recreation, mentoring, community service, internships, and social and cultural activities. PAL's youth programs help young people develop self-esteem, leadership skills, and a sense of belonging, as well as improve school performance, resolve conflicts, and occupy their out-of-school time productively.
